Privacy

This policy explains how Adept Reading, LLC, the operator of Spool, handles information when you use the service.

What stays on your device

Your source video is processed inside your browser and is not uploaded to Spool. You can create and preview artwork without sending the source film to us.

What we collect

When you start a purchase, Spool uploads the derived color strip, render settings, and any caption you add. We also collect the contact and order information needed to complete the purchase: email address, order details, and, for prints, a shipping address and telephone number when provided. Payment information is submitted directly to Stripe; Spool does not store full card numbers.

Our infrastructure providers may receive routine technical information such as an IP address, browser and device details, request logs, and essential cookie or session data needed to secure the service and provide order access.

How information is used and shared

We use information to render and deliver artwork, manufacture and ship prints, send order messages, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain the service, and meet legal and accounting obligations.

Information is shared only as needed with service providers: Stripe for payments, Prodigi for print manufacturing and shipping, Resend for transactional email, and Vercel and Supabase for application infrastructure and private storage. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention, choices, and security

Purchased artwork is stored privately and scheduled for deletion 30 days after rendering. Order, payment, production, security, and support records may be retained longer where reasonably needed for accounting, fraud prevention, disputes, and legal obligations.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information where applicable by replying to an order email. We may need to verify the request and may retain records when the law permits or requires it. Spool uses administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect customer information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Tracking, children, and policy changes

Spool does not use third-party advertising trackers or collect activity across unrelated websites, so browser Do Not Track signals do not change how the service operates. Service providers may process technical data under their own privacy notices.

Spool is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Material changes will be posted on this page and identified by a new effective date.

Shipping

The initial print service ships within the United States. The lowest-cost available shipping method is included in the displayed print price. The carrier and transit service vary by destination and print-lab capacity; tracking appears on the private order page when the carrier provides it.

Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees. If an order cannot ship within the time promised at purchase—or within 30 days when no time was promised—we will notify you of the delay and provide the choice to accept a revised date or cancel for a full refund.

You are responsible for entering a complete, accurate delivery address at checkout. Contact us by replying to the order email as soon as possible if an address needs correction; changes may not be possible after manufacturing begins.

If a package is lost in transit or arrives damaged, incorrect, or materially defective, reply to the order email promptly with the order number and, when relevant, clear photographs. We will review the issue with the print partner and arrange an appropriate replacement or refund.

Cancellations & refunds

Each paid file and print is made to order from customer-provided artwork. To request cancellation, reply to the order email immediately. A print can be cancelled for a full refund before it is submitted for manufacturing. Once manufacturing has begun, cancellation or address changes may no longer be possible.

Digital files are not normally refundable after successful rendering and delivery. Spool will, however, correct or refund a file that cannot be delivered, is corrupted, or does not match the purchased dimensions, style, orientation, or caption.

Damaged, lost, incorrect, or materially defective prints will be reviewed for replacement or refund. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; bank processing times vary. These policies do not limit rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Terms

Spool is operated by Adept Reading, LLC. By using the service or placing an order, you agree to these terms and confirm that you have the legal capacity to make the purchase.

Your content

You keep ownership of your video and artwork. You confirm that you have the right to process the video and create artwork from it. You grant Spool and its service providers the limited permission needed to process the derived artwork, fulfill your order, and provide support. Do not use Spool for unlawful material or content that infringes another person's rights.

Orders and output

The price, currency, included products, shipping method, and any applicable tax are shown before payment. An order is accepted when payment is confirmed. We may cancel and refund an order we cannot safely or lawfully fulfill.

Screen and print colors can differ because displays, source footage, paper, inks, and lighting vary. Preview images are representative; the purchased dimensions, style, orientation, and caption are the production specification.

Service availability

Spool may pause checkout or fulfillment when a provider is unavailable, an address or asset is rejected, fraud is suspected, or an order needs manual review. Features may change as the service develops. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.
